Via Ferrata Climbing Tour

The TAOS Ski Valley Via Ferrata is your chance to experience the thrill of high alpine mountain climbing - no experience necessary. Donning a harness and helmet (equipment included), guests will be personally led by our Via Ferrata guide along a network of cables and climb pre-set routes of iron bars. Situated at 11,500 feet in the sub-alpine ecosystem of Kachina Peak, our guided tour offers beginner through advanced Via Ferrata route challenges, a 100-foot skybridge, and a double-cable catwalk. Guests can progress to vertical terrain with spectacular views of the Rio Hondo and Wheeler Peak Wilderness. New this summer, guests will also take an exhilarating UTV ride up the mountain to access our Via Ferrata climbing course.

Tours leave at 9AM and 1PM daily.

Opening first week of July *weather permitting

Via Ferrata FAQ

HIKING

Northern New Mexico hiking is some of the most diverse you’ll find in the U.S. Our local hiking trails go for miles, and can be as easy or difficult as you need them to be. Revel in the mountain scenery of the Sangre de Cristo’s, and conquer the highest mountain in New Mexico, Wheeler Peak. Explore desert canyons and go deep into the Rio Grande Gorge, 800 feet below the Taos Mesa, where you’ll see ancient petroglyphs carved into the rock walls. No matter where you choose to go hiking in Taos, you’ll be walking through a living history.
