16 July 2018

MULTIPLE DAYS OF CULTURE YOU MAY NEVER WANT TO LEAVE

To get the full experience of the region, we recommend staying for a few days. Make The Blake your basecamp for adventure and outings.

DAY 1

BAG WHEELER PEAK

Conquer New Mexico's highest peak. This 13,161-foot summit can be accessed by either Bull of the Woods Trail or Williams Lake Trail. Get an early start for this expert level hike and make sure to stay well hydrated. Backcountry camping is allowed without a permit. Keep your eyes peeled for Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep, elk and mule deer. You cannot beat the view at the top.

APRES FUN AT THE BAVARIAN

There is no better way to close out your morning or evening at Taos Ski Valley than with a refreshing lunch at The Bavarian. Make sure to start your meal with a pretzel…always a Bavarian favorite!

EVENING OJO CALIENTE VISIT

Relax with a healing soak in the legendary waters of the Ojo Caliente hot springs, deemed sacred by local Native Americans.

DAY 2

CHOICE OF AM RAFT TRIP, ½ DAY GUIDED CLIMBING OR ½ DAY FLY FISHING

The choice is yours and you can't go wrong. Whether you are taking a guided rafting trip on the Rio Grande or fishing on one of this regions many well-stocked rivers, a morning out on the water is always a great option. Or for a different kind of excitement, you can check out Taos from above with a guided rock climbing tour.

LUNCH IN TOWN

After your exciting morning, you’ve earned a good meal and the options are abundant in downtown Taos. Foodies have been traveling to Taos for decades in order to enjoy the diverse options that this region provides. After lunch make sure you take some time to explore the historic Taos Plaza where shops and art galleries are abundant and you will almost definitely find a keepsake to go home with.

PLAY A ROUND OF GOLF

Get away for the afternoon for a round of golf at the Taos Country Club. The 18-hole, linked style course is surrounded by mesa vistas and high desert vegetation, making for a relaxing retreat on the southern edges of Taos.

DINNER AT 192

Before and after outdoor adventure, this is your space to connect while savoring shareable dishes and inspired wines. Centered around a communal kiva fireplace, this inviting, intimate dining and social hub radiates international flare—rustic European alpine architecture folded into colorful New Mexican design.

DAY 3

GUIDED HORSEBACK RIDING

Nothing says Southwest quite like spurs and a saddle. You can explore northern New Mexico the way the natives used to - on horseback! Guided horseback riding tours will bring you high in the mountains or down in the Pueblo land where the natives still reside. Llama trekking is another furry-friend option. Explore trails while lovable llamas carry your gear and make your trip even more unique.

HOT AIR BALLOON RIDE

Floating isn’t just for water, Taos is a great place for floating in the air. Hot air balloon rides above the Rio Grande Gorge are magical, thrilling experiences that will take your breath away. As the sun rises over the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, you’ll have the best views of the Taos Mesa and see amazing geologic formations from 800 feet above the Rio Grande. With some luck, you might see some wildlife, too.
